Tafui is an independent Artist and Designer who’s originally from Kingston Jamaican and her work spans from fine art, surface pattern design, illustration, spatial design, communication to product design. She is particularly known for her big bold black and white abstract repeat patterns that embellish many of her work.After graduating high school, Tafui moved to Montreal where she attended Dawson college where she studied studio arts. She then continued her studies in Design at Concordia University. After working for over ten years as a graphic designer for design agencies in the States, Jamaica & Canada. Along with her agency experience, Tafui has also lectured and co-wrote post-secondary level courses in branding & design.
Today Tafui is currently the founder of Tafui Art & Design, where she licenses her work and produces high-quality environmentally responsible products. Her unique collection adds diversity to the modern retail experience.
Her work is inspired by her love for indigenous cultures, modern design and traditional textile techniques. Over the years Tafui has a diverse body of work which includes wallpapers, textile, tableware, and stationary.
She splits her time between Ottawa and Vancouver Canada.
